The Corruption Prevention and Education Division, under the responsibility of a Director, is one of the two operational Divisions of the ICAC. Its functions are defined in Section 20 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 2002 as amended.
Our Mandate
The CPED is mandated to educate and empower the community as well as to undertake corruption prevention reviews in Public Bodies to enhance organisational integrity. The Division focuses on the need for good governance in both public and private sector organisations. Its actions are also in line with obligations set out both in regional and international conventions. It enlists public support and works in collaboration with all stakeholders in the community.
Our Strategy
The Division aims at sensitising, educating, empowering and seeking the community’s engagement to fight corruption through a 5R strategy, as follows:
- Recognise;
- Resist;
- Reject;
- Report corruption and;
- Reinforce integrity at all levels.
Our Goal
The goal of the ICAC through the CPED is to make corruption a high risk activity through:
- dissemination of relevant information to promote a culture of integrity and increase public intolerance;
- enhancement of integrity in Public Bodies to consolidate national development;
- facilitation of reporting of corrupt practices.
The ultimate objective is to create a mindset that prompts new behavioural attitude and an environment conducive to the emergence of a culture of integrity at all levels.
