Launching of the ‘Integrity and Empowerment Programme for new recruits of the Police Department, Prisons Service and Fire Services’
The ICAC launched the ‘Integrity and Empowerment Programme for new recruits of the Police Department, Prisons Service and Fire Services’ on Tuesday 17th October, 2017. Mr L. Pallen, Chief Fire Officer; Mr P. Appadoo, Commissioner of Prisons and Mr M. Nobin, Commissioner of Police accompanied by their respective cohorts of new recruits participated in the launching ceremony. The respective heads formalised their commitment to the fight against corruption by symbolically taking the ICAC online pledge.
This event is the fruit of a meeting held with representatives of the Police Force in October 2016, during which it was discussed that the ICAC would come up with an ‘Integrity and Empowerment Programme for New recruits of the Police’. The objectives of this programme are to secure the engagement of new recruits in upholding personal and organisational integrity and to equip them to effectively fight corruption by rejecting and reporting such acts. As a result of discussions we had with the Prisons Services and the Fire Services, it was proposed to extend the module to these two institutions.
